Client Gallery Wall

Turning a plain wall into a conversation piece

After moving into a brand new home one of the toughest decisions can be where to hang wall art. The thought of putting nails and holes into that beautifully sheet-rocked wall can be totally stressful! As silly as it sounds, I still have yet to make a decision on wall hangings in parts of my home and I've lived there about 18 months.

Before you commit to putting holes anywhere, consider planning out and organizing your wall hangings, or in this case a gallery wall. One of the first things you can easily use to plan is computer software that contains shapes (I used Microsoft Word for mine). It's easy to play around with various shapes and drag them around until you like the placement.
Once you plan the general layout of your wall hangings, cut rosin paper to the dimensions of your pieces. Then tape them on the wall based on your computer rendering of where you want them placed. Next - hammer in your nails and simply remove the paper and VOILA - you have everything where you need it. Easy breezy!

One of the secrets (I think) to great gallery walls is that you don't make them too "matchy-matchy". Switch up your pieces and don't have only pictures. I added some flare to my client's wall by incorporating these beautiful wooden arrows with gold accents by 302 Woodworks. The rest of the pieces came from a local Homegoods.

Once everything seemed to be purchased and the design finalized, I laid out everything on the floor to make sure that I LOVED it (not just liked it) before committing to nailing. If you're really unsure, I'd recommend using 3M Command removable wall hooks

A happy client is the biggest reward in any design project. To see the smile on her face makes me so happy. With only a few pieces of wall art we were able to create a focal point and conversation piece in this brand new home.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll be able to use this information for your next big wall hanging project! All the best...
