Hi there! I'm so happy you took the time to stop by The Unique Nest for a visit.

One morning, in December of 2013, I literally woke up and decided to start a blog. A few people (OK everyone I knew) thought I was a little crazy, but I haven't looked back since. I've been designing spaces since I was a little girl and have had many make-believe businesses since I can remember. After years of helping friends and family decorate, I decided to share my ideas in the format of a blog. It gives me a creative outlet outside of the daily responsibilities of life and turned into much more than I could have ever imagined.

During your visit here you will find blog posts about my home decorating adventures, ideas for DIY lovers, delicious recipes, and products that I love. You'll also find before and after photos from my interior design company Laura Leigh Designs and posts about my construction company Milltown Homes that I co-own with my talented brother Anthony.

If I had to describe my personal style I would say that it's "Coastal Farmhouse". I'm not sure if that's a thing - but it's my thing! I love mixing old with new. Reclaimed wood next to clean lines and traditional furnishings make my heart skip a beat! I never spend a lot on home design and decor because I have two little ones and two doodle doggies, Winston and Vera --- they are all slobs! In fact, it's my husband Carmen that mainly keeps our home tidy and organized. If I had a pick a photo of our home that captures "my style" this one of our ship-lap fireplace pretty much sums it up...

When I'm not busy blogging or being a mommy, I am probably at someone's house or on the phone helping them with an interior design project. I own a small interior design company called Laura Leigh Designs and I'm also a high school Business & Finance teacher in upstate New York (my big girl job).
