Home for the Holidays 2016

My cozy and simple holiday decor

The days are short, dark and cold in the great Northeast, but our home is filled with lights, warmth and joy. Accents of red and white are in abundance and a woodland theme with Fraser Fir branches are found throughout our home.

Simple and earthy, our holiday decor feels like it could stay up all winter (and it just might). Branches taken from the bottom of our fresh cut Christmas tree from Bob's Trees in Galway, make for beautiful boughs on our staircase. Mercury glass ornaments from TJ Maxx and woodland ornaments that were a gift make this little space in our home feel cozy and inviting.

I'm not sure why it took me so long to buy battery-operated string lights from Amazon, but OMG I am in love. They are everywhere in our home and my poor husband is probably sick of hearing about how much I love them!!! The are pictured below in an antique vase that my aunt bought for me at an estate sale. The best part - they are only $15 for three sets!

Another cheap trick in holiday decorating is to find some cute wrapping paper and wrap up your wall art. This easy idea added some instant holiday design to an otherwise dull working space.

We have two trees in our home. A small fake one that serves the purpose of looking cute in our front window and having all woodland ornaments on it. The other tree (pictured later) is usually a Fraser Fir cut at Bob's Trees and brought home. Pictured below are details form our cute "fake" tree in the front room of our home.

Next up are some detail shots of small touches of holiday decor around the house. Again, a theme of wooden snowflakes (available at Target), antique finds, mercury glass and red/white are found throughout. I'd love to someday have a home that's decorated all in neutrals (white, gold, silver) but my kids are young and they love the pops of color for Christmas. There will be plenty of time for white lights and neutrals someday. For now, we use lots of color for the kiddos!!!

That's it my friends - my holiday home tour 2016! From my home to yours, may you and your families have a blessed, joyous and peaceful holiday season. Merry Christmas and God bless!!!
