The summer months are magical in any part of the world. Yet in some areas (like Upstate New York where I live) it is a very short magical experience. God's gift of a few short months of warm weather, lots of sunshine, and gardens in bloom. I always look for simple yet impactful ideas for projects that I can take on that will make this quarter of my year functional and fun, but won't break the bank.
In this post I'm sharing various outdoor ideas for summer 2016 that you might be willing or interested in taking on. Some are more simple than others, but all are sure to inspire. So sit back, grab that glass of lemonade, and check out some of these summertime design concepts to better your living!
GARDEN & HENS
Start a garden in no time with a few old wooden wine boxes, lettuce and herbs. Not only are they functional and delicious, but they are aesthetically pleasing as porch or patio decor. This is planting made easy folks!
If you've ever contemplated backyard chickens, I'm here to tell you to DO IT!!! We have some urban hens that we just adore. Fresh buttery eggs everyday and with today's coop designs, you can build or purchase a coop to match any home exterior.
WOOD PROJECTS
Take a look at a few different projects that can be sone with the simple purchase of lumber from a local mill or hardware store. Below is a DIY Fence project that my husband and I took on in our own yard two years ago, as well as my dream outdoor shower and a couple of other wooden seating options that will work in almost any outdoor space.

Pea Stone and Slate
Patios are beautiful and make great entertaining spaces but cost a ton of money! Save on stamped concrete or pavers with a simple pea stone and slate walkway, fire pit or seating area. Dream up and create just about any look you like with this inexpensive and beautiful look.

Hoping you will find some of these ideas to be as inspirational as I did. In my mind I'm already prioritizing what I want to spend my time and money on this summer. Looking forward to seeing how things shape up around the yard over the next few months and I'll be sure to share the outcomes with you. Thanks for stopping by! xo
