Deck Makeover {Laura Leigh Designs}

How this family transformed their deck with a little help from ME :)

A year or so ago, friends of mine hired me to makeover their very large deck space. The family is young, loves to entertain, and is VERY busy (business owners, parents to 4-year old triplets and a 1 year-old daughter). Their existing deck was not living up to it's full potential and was so large that they were unsure of where to begin.

Here's a look at the deck BEFORE:

The owners of this deck live a little over an hour away, so we completed the project partially using my e-Design services at Laura Leigh Designs. We went back and forth about the layout and selections via email and it worked really well with their busy schedule (no face-to-face meetings were necessary).

The project began with a vision board and 3D rendering which can be seen below...

Next - I worked with the family and their budget to complete the shopping/delivery for products and items to be used in the makeover. The first step was to have the deck power-washed and stained, which they did through a contractor in their area. It came out amazing...
After all the shopping and shipping was complete (they are actually still waiting on the two chairs from the conversation set that are delayed due to the holiday weekend) I drove down to complete the final setup and reveal. I think it came out great and the home owners are really happy. You can check out the transformation and product selections below...

NOTE: The deck was given three distinct entertaining areas: DINING + CONVERSATION + PLAY. The AFTER photos are laid out as such...

The gathering place for children and adults alike - eating outdoors at a custom 7-foot farm table & benches made from reclaimed wood and anchored with metal Tabouret chairs

A space to relax and unwind while still keeping an eye on the kiddos

* NOTE: This area is still awaiting the delayed delivery of the arm chairs due to the holiday weekend  (more photos coming soon)

A space for the children to gather, have fun and make a mess if they want :)

I am so very pleased with the transformation of this deck space and thrilled that this family now has an outdoor space to unwind at the end of a busy day. For more information on the design services that I offer, click here

Happy Memorial Day everyone :)

  1. I love this! My husband and I are wanting to update our deck space this summer. Do you know what the family used to stain the deck. I love that color.

    Thank you!

  2. This is perfect! Where did you get the cute throw pillows on the wicker loveseat?
