Front Porch & Front Yard Tour

Photo tour of my favorite space to relax...

When my husband and I sat down and drew our dream home on paper in 2013 we envisioned a welcoming and comfortable front porch where we could kick back and entertain. I always loved the idea of a porch party (it's on my to-do list this summer).

Although we have only lived in our new home for less than a year, we've made some progress with respect to landscape and porch decor and I thought it would be fund to share this space with you.

The following photos are of our front porch (and front yard) where we spend so much time watching the sunset and enjoying life...hope you like it!

My reclaimed wood chevron tray from the Country Living Fair this past June...

These awesome Adirondack chairs were a house-warming gift from my brother-in-law and were made of of pallet wood. I simply gave them a grey/blue stain and VOILA!

Some detail shots...

Lots of fun, colorful and comfortable pillows...

Flowers, flowers and more flowers...

Our entry...

My favorite flower - The Hydrangea

Last but not least... our newly installed DIY fence (post on that coming soon!!!)...
Thanks for stopping by :)

Master Bedroom Remix

Adding some "pop" through the use of color

Not all interior design projects have to involve major renovation or expense. Sometimes you just need a fresh look or feel to your space using the existing furniture and decor that you have in place. That's just what this young couple was looking for in their home.

Styling or remixing your space is a great way to design a room without breaking the bank but adding new energy to your home. That's exactly what I did for this master bedroom. Below are the BEFORE photos of the room. Lots of brown, mocha and tan with very little texture or color present. The owner wished for a more feminine feel while incorporating the existing furniture, bed linens, carpet, etc. :

The Remix

I used yellow and blue hues for this bedroom remix. When shopping for the client, I made sure that I stayed with their minimalist feel and look, but added a little more texture, color and decor to their room.

Here is what the bedroom looked like after styling:

The Window Alcoves

These once dark and lonely looking alcoves got a quick facelift with bright yellow valances and oil rubbed bronze rods. I added white bookshelves to each one for storage and functionality...

The Walls

Pulling in gold mirrors added some warmth that worked well with the existing mahogany furniture that this couple owns. I also purchased wicker baskets that offered a different texture and look than the other decor...

The Bed

I added a few lovely (and comfortable) pillows to the bed and made sure that they tied in well with the existing comforter that the owners wished to keep.  The colors and patterns look great together and look inviting and relaxing.

The Details

The recurring theme in this bedroom was "brown & beige". In an attempt to break up some of this monochromatic tone, I added a bold patterned rug with colors that tie in the pillows and decor. I really love how it looks in this room!
